Film posters by Saul Bass - Love In The Afternoon (1957), Vertigo (1958), West Side Story (1961), The Man With The Golden Arm (1955)

Saul Bass (born on the 8th of May 1920 in New York City) was one of the most influential graphic designers of the 20th century. While his work on film posters and company logos stand out, his animated film titles were nothing short of revolutionary. Working with filmmakers such as Alfred Hitchcock, Martin Scrosese and Stanley Kubrick, his influence in Hollywood’s early motion design is unmatched. He developed a trademark design language which used strong symbolism and was groundbreaking in its simplicity. Wikipedia lists “The Man With The Golden Arm” (Otto Preminger, 1955), “North By Northwest” (Alfred Hitchcock, 1959) and “Psycho” (Alfed Hitchock, 1960) as his most influential title sequences. His late work includes the Oscar posters (1991-1996) and the title sequence for the Spielberg movie “Schindlers List” (1993).
